Welcome to my profile. I am a qualified and experienced Couple Therapist (BACP Accredited Psychotherapist). I work exclusively online and have come to love online couple therapy after experiencing how effective working in this way can be.

If you are seeking couple therapy it usually means your relationship is feeling difficult. There are many reasons for exploring couples therapy. Maybe you are feeling stuck? Are you struggling to recover from a betrayal? Have changed circumstances impacted on your relationship?

Perhaps this is no longer what you signed up for and you are wondering whether there's enough goodwill to work through the problems - or perhaps move on? You might be going through a tricky patch or need support in making a big decision such as whether to start a family, move or change career.
Are you seeking pre-marriage/commitment preparation? It may be that bereavement has touched your relationship leaving you both sitting alone in your grief.

How I can help

I can help you make sense of what's going on between you. You don't need to live with conflict, indecision, resentment or disappointment. We can deepen your connection by working on better ways of communicating so you can really hear what each other is saying without fear of feeling vulnerable.

If the same conflicts keep repeating themselves, we can explore ways to break away from old, unhelpful behaviours by gaining insight into how past experiences and needs impact on your current romantic relationships. We can identify the strengths in your relationship, introduce greater kindness and perhaps rekindle what drew you initially to each other.

Sometimes couples want to explore whether a relationship can be saved; is worth saving. Have you simply fallen out of love and wondering whether there's someone out there who might be a more meaningful partner? If we can't find a way back to your relationship, I can help you separate with grace, reducing further hurt, despair and blame.

There are many aspects to couple therapy: I specialise in pre-marriage/commitment preparation with a choice of a 4 or 6 hour course to prepare you for what lies ahead and offer your relationship the best start possible. If you are planning a deeper commitment, are newlyweds feeling a bit disillusioned, know you have existing difficulties that need resolving before moving forward or are seeking skills and insight to navigate a successful relationship, do contact me for further information. (I can provide you with a Certificate of Completion should you require evidence of training)

I also offer Discernment Counselling for couples who wish to gain clarity, confidence and a deeper understanding around whether they are up for working on improving their relationship through couples counselling. Discernment Counselling is not couple counselling per se as it focusses on helping couples decide whether they can commit to a period of couple counselling during which time, divorce, as an option, is taken off the table. Often these couples are on the brink of separating but there is still some ambivalence about breaking up the relationship. Usually one partner is 'leaning-out' of the relationship and one is still committed to making it work, or the 'leaning-in' partner. Discernment Counselling takes place over 1-5 sessions with the couple committing to one session at a time. Most of the time is spent working individually with me although there are also some joint periods to each session. The initial session lasts 2 hours and thereafter sessions last 90 minutes. Do contact me if you'd be interested in finding out more about Discernment Counselling.

A tailored approach

I work with heterosexual and same sex couples. My practice is inclusive and I am respectful and affirmative of race, ethnicity, culture, sexuality, disability, gender and faith.

I will work with you with kindness and compassion, leading you towards insight and resolution using an integrative approach tailored to your specific needs. I believe in the importance of a safe therapeutic relationship as the vessel within which change can happen and will strive to offer you a safe place to explore your reasons for engaging with couple therapy.

If you would like to know more or book an appointment and are available for morning appointments Mondays-Wednesdays, please do send me a message.

Online therapy

I work exclusively online using Zoom and and will support you to engage effectively and enjoyably in couple therapy online. All you require is a safe, comfortable and confidential space. Not only is it convenient, saves you travel time, can take place from anywhere in the world, be you together or apart, but you can also cosy up on your favourite sofa with a nice cuppa to hand. I can usually be found with a cup of tea close by!

I offer a free 20 minute exploratory Zoom call and should we decide to go ahead with therapy I will send you a recurring Zoom link we can use anytime.

Couple Therapy usually requires a commitment of 3-6 months but may be ongoing depending on your situation and needs. Once we have worked together I will always be available thereafter for top-up sessions should the need arise. We would initially meet on a weekly basis for either 90 or 75 minute sessions but may in time reduce this to meeting fortnightly.

PLEASE NOTE: my couple therapy WORKING HOURS ARE MONDAYS-WEDNESDAYS 9.00AM-2.00PM. Regretfully I am unable to offer weekend or evening sessions.

CherylAnn is among the very best!

CherylAnn was recommended to my partner and I by a fellow professional. Over several months of couple counselling she proved herself highly experienced, knowledgeable, patient and likeable. Our time with her gave us the safe space we needed to address our issues. We always felt we were in good hands and the outcome has been as positive as we could have wished.

I've received counselling previously and use counselling skills in my own work. CherylAnn is among the very best!
