Relationship Counselling Southampton
--- currently unavailable ---
My name is Guy Payne, I am a relationship counsellor and psychotherapist. I provide short and long-term counselling to individuals and couples who want to make a change in their relationship.
Maybe you are struggling to co-parent your children or maybe you are finding it hard to incorporate step-children into your relationship. Or it might be that you are trying to recover from the damage of infidelity. Whatever is bringing stress to your relationship, therapy is an opportunity for you both to sit together and talk things through.
As a counsellor it is my job to help you bring harmony to your relationship as you learn to understand and assist each other in new and more helpful ways. I listen to both of you and between us all we determine the course therapy will take.
I understand that looking for help can sometimes be a daunting prospect so I am happy to spend as little or as much time as you need explaining the process and talking through what is right for you both so you are comfortable and confident about the course of therapy.
Once you are happy we can start the process of helping you both feel better. If you would like to know more, you are more than welcome to send me a message.
After a number of years travelling the world I settled down in 1989, started a family and began my professional life as an English teacher. However, I have always had a passion for helping people and so, in 2001, I fulfilled my life long ambition and qualified as a therapist and counsellor.
Since then I have gained extensive experience and training in helping adults, children and families feel better and live happier, healthier lives and I still wake up each day feeling excited by my profession.
Next to my practice in Central Southampton I also offer counselling in Burley in the New Forest, Bournemouth and Poole.
Qualifications and registrations
I am registered and Accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). To reach Accreditation status with the BACP it is necessary to have an advanced counselling qualification in the first instance and to undergo yearly relevant continuing professional development.
My BACP membership number is 538561 and my registration number is 020022
I also have a specific interest and extensive training in Attachment Therapy, Family Therapy, Trauma Recovery, Group Work and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).
I undertake a yearly DBS check. This demonstrates my eligibility to support and help vulnerable people including children.
