Olivia | Relationship and Couples Therapist

Relationship and Couples Therapy Margate

Hello and Welcome!  I’m Olivia, a professional relationship and couples therapist, dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate the complexities of their relationships.

Relationships are intricate arenas where two people come together with their unique expectations, backgrounds, communication styles, and relationship histories. At times, these differences can lead to misunderstandings, conflict, or feelings of disconnection.

Some of us may find ourselves prone to anxiety in relationships, constantly seeking reassurance or feeling overwhelmed by the emotional dynamics. Others may lean toward avoidance, pulling back when intimacy or conflict arises, which can also create distance and frustration. These patterns are more common than you might think, and with the right support, they can be worked through.

My Approach

As a therapist, I provide an open, curious and warm space where you and your partner can explore your relationship concerns without fear of judgement or opinion, just open and empathic exploration.

I draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches, using proven methods to help you make sense of yourself and each other. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) looks at disrupted emotional connections that can lead to disconnection, conflict or mis- communication, in order that trust and intimate connection can be restored. Transactional Analysis explores how we move between different states of being and brings awareness to how reactive communication, such as criticism, withholding affection or angry outbursts, can play out in our relationships. Attachment Theory explores how we sought safety and tried to get our needs met in our formative years, as these needs (and ways of getting those needs met) persist throughout our lives.

Ultimately, the journey of couples therapy is about raising awareness and giving context to the sometimes dysfunctional way we strive to be loved, understood, accepted and cherished. The beauty of this process goes beyond healthier intimate relationships, into a better relationship with ourselves and others in our lives.

Online therapy

Online therapy is a great option for couples who would like to cut out travel and attend therapy sessions from a private space at home or work. There is the added benefit of being able to attend therapy from different locations if ever need be.

Sessions are held over Zoom video call, which is a safe and reliable platform. I have undergone extensive extra training to ensure that online therapy is every bit as vibrant, interactive and effective as in-person sessions

I have limited space for in-person sessions in Margate, do get in touch if you would like to know more.
