My husband cheated on me whilst I was pregnant

17yrs ago my husband cheated on me whilst I was pregnant. I found out 5 years later. The marriage was perfect, we were intimate every night, completely in love, communicated, everyone said we were the perfect couple and how lucky he was to have a woman like me. He said he was sorry, that it was just a friendship (they worked together for 2 weeks before the affair started) and it was just a few kisses. Over time more came out, how he took her home twice, pulled over in a lay by, after losing his job still snook off to see her telling me he was working late, invited her to our home when I went back to work after mat leave. He turned violent and abusive towards me for 6yrs having my children watch him beat me, swearing he'd never hurt me again, never lie to me again. Since then he has lied about women in every job - 7 in total, behaving inappropriately with them, nothing sexual but each one resulted in violence towards me, abuse and him swearing nothing happened, he said he lied in case I accused him of having an affair - something I'd never done. Each issue I begged him to sit and talk to me openly and honestly which he promised he would do but never did. I still had no closure about his affair as he refuses to talk it through. Cheating, broken promises, lies, the deceit, denying me the truth etc has torn me apart. I love him but I can't keep living this way. I feel worthless and I just don't understand why he treats me this way. Why would a man who cheated on his wife make no effort to right his wrong, refuses to be honest about it all and talk to me about it. Why would he continue to lie about other women after swearing he'd never lie to me again yet continue to. Why fill my head with promises to build my hopes up only to let me down.
