Relationship Counselling Whitstable
My name is Ann-Louise McCarthy and I am a Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist registered with UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). I am also a member of CPJA (Council for Psychoanalytic and Jungian Analysts).
My Private Practice is based in Whitstable which is easily accessible from Herne Bay and Faversham, Canterbury and Thanet.
I provide couples therapy, one-to-one Psychotherapy with both adults and adolescents, as well as workplace consultations. Couples therapy and one-to-one therapy can be on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period. Workplace consultation agreements can be facilitated to meet the needs of the organization.
Safe, confidential and non-judgmental
I am committed to providing a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment where we can explore issues and acknowledge psychological pain which may have been present throughout your life, or that may have developed over time in response to difficult life experiences and relationships. The aim of our work together is to identify, better understand and work through the issues that are impacting negatively on your life, to allow positive change to occur.
It can be difficult to take the first steps towards starting therapy. You may be unsure what to expect, wonder whether you will feel safe and be uncertain about what will be expected of you in sessions. I am always happy to answer any questions you have to allow you to feel comfortable and to give you a sense of what therapy may be like and what to expect.
I welcome this opportunity because I want you to feel comfortable so you will take the steps needed to experience therapy. An initial assessment appointment, which takes place at the beginning of a period of therapy, is also an opportunity for you to find out more about what therapy will be like and to ask any questions you may have.
Types of issues
I have experience in helping clients who have experienced difficulties with :
- Affairs and infidelity
- Communication issues
- Conflicts and arguments
- Marriage problems
- Mid Life Crisis
- Interpersonal and relationship difficulties
- Trust issues
As well as other relationship problems and difficulties. I am always willing to discuss the therapy I offer so you are able to make an informed decision whether working with me feels comfortable and appropriate for you.
I attend supervision and Professional Development training on a regular basis, throughout the year, as I believe expanding my knowledge and keeping up to date with current developments in Psychotherapy and mental and emotional health issues is important.
