Relationship and Couples Counselling Overton - Basingstoke

My name is Elinor Harvey and I am a qualified and accredited Relationship Therapist and Couples Counsellor. I believe that our personal and intimate relationships are central to how we live. Happy, successful relationships allow us to thrive and have a wider positive impact on our mental health, our careers, family life and future aspirations. Conversely relationship problems can cause us to feel lost, overwhelmed and rootless. When our closest relationships feel under threat, we don’t always know where to turn. Relationship therapy can help.

I work with both couples and individuals experiencing relationship difficulties. This used to be called ‘marriage guidance’ but in fact I work with everyone whether they are married, single, co-habiting, in a long term partnership, or something else! I welcome couples and individuals of all backgrounds, sexualities, and identifications. ‘Guidance’ can suggest leading, but in fact I am here to empower and enable you to explore your relationships, both past and present, and help you make sense of how you’re feeling. For some people, this helps them to decide what needs to change in their relationship. For some, it helps them feel greater trust and affection for their partner. For others, it allows them to leave an unhappy situation. For everyone, it provides aspace to think, reflect, and wonder about how things could and can be different.

I focus on the patterns and dynamics of your relationship and try to understand what has led to some of these issues occurring. Using psychodynamic, systemic and CBT approaches, I can assess and work with you to help make sense of the challenges you are facing. Ultimately I offer an safe place for you to discuss and explore key issues and discover how things can be improved.

If you would like to know more or book an appointment, please feel free to send me a message.

Online therapy

I offer online therapy via Zoom, or Facetime if preferred. Online therapy is very similar to face to face therapy, and I have found that many clients find that it fits better into their other life commitments than attending face to face. Please feel free to ask any questions or discuss any concerns you might have about starting online counselling.

Statement concerning the coronavirus pandemic

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic I have been exclusively working online. I am now accepting referrals for face to face clients as well as online therapy.

I offer face to face sessions from my practice in the village of Overton in North Hampshire. I also see clients in my practice just outside of Basingstoke (on the main road between Basingstoke and Newbury).
