Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy Southend on Sea
Hello. I am Musonda, a COSRT-registered Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist, specializing in supporting individuals and couples who wish to work through sexual or relationship difficulties to improve relational and sexual well-being, intimacy, and connection. You may just wish to deepen your understanding of yourself and your sexuality, I am committed to helping you on that empowering journey of self-discovery and growth.
Psychosexual Therapy is a structured talking therapy designed to address both sexual and relational challenges. My approach is personalized, combining client-centred techniques like Sensate Focus, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness. As a Relational Integrative Psychotherapist with training in psychodynamic, humanistic, and person-centred theories, I use an integrated approach to understand you and the issues leading to emotional, sexual, and relational wellbeing.
Whether you are navigating challenges such as arousal and desire issues, sexual pain or vaginismus, difficulties with orgasms, erections, or ejaculation, or dealing with life transitions, communication barriers, conflict, conscious uncoupling, infidelity, or the complexities of cross-cultural relationships, I am here to support you.
What I love most about my work is witnessing the unique journeys of individuals and couples as they navigate challenges, supporting them toward healthier, more fulfilling relationships—both sexual and general. My goal is for clients to feel empowered and capable of making the life changes they seek.
The therapy process typically follows these steps:
- Initial Assessment: Both partners (if attending as a couple) share their perspectives and goals for change. I assess the suitability for psychosexual therapy and begin to understand the concerns in detail.
- Individual History Taking: Each person meets separately to discuss their personal history, including biological, psychological, and social factors affecting the issues presented.
- Formulation: I synthesize the information from the history-taking sessions to create a clear understanding of the issues and establish therapy goals.
- Roundtable: We come together to review the formulation, set goals, and discuss tasks to work on outside of sessions, supporting progress.
- Treatment Phase: This phase focuses on working toward the goals, with regular reviews to track progress. Suggested work will be done in the privacy of your home. Throughout the process, we will include psychoeducation on related topics including sexual function, intimacy, and communication.
- Ending Therapy: The psychosexual therapy process typically lasts 16-20 sessions from initial assessment, depending on the issues at hand. We will take time to process the ending together when it’s appropriate for you. If therapy is no longer safe or effective, I will discuss ending the process and refer you to other services if needed.
The therapeutic space is designed to ensure you feel safe, supported, and free to express yourself without judgment. This is your journey, and I’m here to listen, validate your experiences, and support you through your process.
Please do get in touch and let us talk.

Online therapy
I use Zoom video or Microsoft teams or telephone in my online work. What is most important is what you are comfortable with, and I am happy to discuss and meet your needs if possible.
If you are near my counselling rooms in Southend-on-Sea, I also offer face to face therapy, which can be arranged.
Some clients have found online therapy suitable as it offers more flexibility for evenings and weekend sessions. The online option also enables you to have therapy from wherever you are in the UK and Europe. It is therapy clients can have in the comfort and privacy of their own homes.
