Andrew | Couples/Relationships Counsellor

Online relationship counselling

I am an experienced relationship counsellor with a warm and non-judgemental approach. I offer counselling sessions online over Zoom.

If you're struggling with a problem or want to get more out of your relationship, counselling may help. I'll work sensitively and honestly with you to support you in what you're going through.

I welcome clients from anywhere in the world online!

Couples counselling

Couples counselling can help you develop a deeper understanding of the dynamics in your relationship, find ways of sorting out relationship issues and improve communication. I am equally comfortable counselling same-sex couples as heterosexual couples.

I have experience working with a wide range of relationship issues, including:

  • Anger, control and hostility
  • Affairs and infidelity
  • Communication
  • Commitment
  • Emotional abuse/manipulation and gaslighting
  • Intra-cultural relationships
  • Jealousy and insecurity
  • Long-distance relationships (eg living in different countries)
  • Parenting, including blended families
  • Potential breakdown of relationship
  • Separation and divorce
  • Sex and intimacy
  • Trust

“We are super glad that we chose Andrew as our counsellor. He was able to understand what we needed assistance with and had a non-judgmental approach. With Andrew’s guidance, we learned how to communicate with one another in a more effective way which deepened our connection. We are grateful for Andrew and would highly recommend him!”   Ashley & Andy

About me

I was adopted as a very young baby, and as a young adult I traced and established a good relationship with my birth family. I am a gay man living in a long-term intercultural relationship with my Polish partner.

Having benefited immensely myself from counselling and therapy as part of my recovery from an eating disorder and dealing with abandonment, attachment and intimacy issues, in my early 30s I trained in London as a psychotherapeutic counsellor. At around the same time I was introduced to Buddhist meditation, which I continue to practice.

For the past eight years I have been a trustee of Gaia House, a retreat centre near Newton Abbot offering silent meditation retreats in the Buddhist tradition. My other voluntary work has included: “befriending” asylum seekers in a London refuge; counselling at the Terrence Higgins Trust in Brighton; and being a trustee of Mankind UK, a national charity offering therapy and other support to male survivors of sexual abuse.

In parallel with my counselling and coaching career, I’ve also had considerable professional experience in PR, corporate communications and learning & development. When I lived in Brighton, I ran my own PR business and later became programme director for the Brighton & Hove branch of international leadership development charity Common Purpose. Most recently I spent four years as part-time communications manager with the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
