Janine | Counsellor/psychotherapist

Relationship Counselling Ellesmere Port

Hi, I'm Janine and I work with individuals and couples from my therapy room in Hooton, Ellesmere Port.

I offer face to face and online appointments during daytime hours, evenings and Saturday. I work online via zoom for clients countrywide.

As a qualified Couples Counsellor, I offer a safe, supportive, and confidential space for couples to explore their relationship and work towards greater understanding, connection, and emotional wellbeing. My aim is to help partners communicate more effectively, rebuild trust, and navigate challenges with empathy and respect.

I work with couples experiencing a range of difficulties, including recurring conflict, emotional distance, breakdowns in communication, intimacy issues, infidelity, and the pressures of life transitions such as parenthood, career change, or separation. Whether couples are seeking to strengthen their relationship or find a way forward through uncertainty, I provide a compassionate and balanced environment for both individuals to feel heard and valued.

My approach is grounded in person-centred principles, offering empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard to create a foundation for openness and growth. I also draw upon elements of Psychodynamic therapy and attachment therapy to help couples identify and shift unhelpful patterns of interaction, understand underlying emotional needs, and build stronger, more secure attachments.

I believe that meaningful change occurs when couples are able to listen to each other with understanding and compassion. My role is to facilitate this process by helping partners express themselves honestly, explore their shared dynamics, and work collaboratively towards a more fulfilling relationship.

As an ethical and reflective practitioner, I work in alignment with the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and engage in regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development. My commitment is to provide a professional and compassionate counselling service that supports couples in creating positive and lasting change.

I offer a safe non judgemental space where you can speak openly and honestly about what has brought you to therapy and together we can agree a way to work that supports you and helps you achieve your therapy goals.

I am an experienced integrative counsellor and supervisor and I am a member of the BACP.

Relationships don't come with a handbook and for many of us trying to navigate our way through difficulties we may face as a couple can feel overwhelming, especially when communication has broken down.

You may be searching for a counsellor/psychotherapist because you feel you need some help with the following.

  • Infidelity
  • Lack of Intimacy
  • Communication issues
  • Blended family difficulties
  • Controlling behaviour

If you would like to book an appointment, please send me a message.

Online therapy

I use Zoom video or Microsoft teams in my online work. Most of my clients have said this feels the same as being in the counselling room and works well.

Online therapy offers you more flexibility for evenings and weekend sessions and I also enables you to have therapy if you are based across the UK and in Europe.
