Relationship Counselling Hythe - Folkestone

I help couples of all kinds mend trust, improve communication and become a team once again. My aim is to help you navigate what can be sometimes very brutal waters. Relationship issues can impact your work, family and even health, and it can be a difficult time to make decisions around your future. I offer warm and practical therapy that looks at both the relationship and the individuals within.

It's not always affairs that bring couples to counselling. Sometimes, people have grown apart and want to see if their relationship can be salvaged. Occasionally, past traumas are impacting the relationship. Equally, current challenges can feel so intense that couples feel lost as to how to get past them. There may even be additctions that are muddying the waters.

Of course, there are also affairs, betrayals and loss of trust.

Each couple is different, but I often see people struggling with the extra pressures of pretending to the world that everything is ok. Likewise, the person to whom they used to turn to help them through times like these, is somehow part of the problem.

If any of this sounds familiar, please do get in touch. I welcome couples of all kinds, including polyamorous relationships.

Online therapy

Online sessions are incredibly practical - there's no commute to my therapy room, and you can spend the time you would have spent travelling reflecting and making the most of our work together.

I generally conduct sessions via Zoom, and they are 75 minutes long.

Qualifications and registrations

  • Diploma in Psychotherapy from the Human Givens
  • Masters in Business Psychology from University of East London
  • Further training with Autism and ADHD.
  • Specialist training in baby loss.

Specialisations

I work with couples who need help. My focus is not on what happened in your childhoods (although we may address that), but on helping you move forwards and feel better - together or apart - as soon as possible.

I take a psychoeducational approach to therapy. This means I'll explain what's going on in your brain chemistry and communication patterns so that you have a full understanding of why you can't make a decision right now, or why you perhaps can't stop feeling emotional, even at the most awkward moments.

I share tools and techniques to help bring down emotional intensity, deal with trauma, and break behaviours that are not serving you as a couple.

Most common issues I support people with:

  • Betrayal of trust
  • Bereavement
  • Addictions
  • Outside pressures impacting relationship
  • Past traumas

Fees

I charge £120 for a couples session (75 mins), £80 for an individual (hour).
