Hamid | Family and Couple Counsellor
Relationship Counselling Banstead - Sutton
Couples therapy typically involves both partners attending sessions together, but there may also be individual sessions as needed. Here is what I do in Systematic Family/Couple Therapy:
Identify and Understand Family Dynamics, Assess and Address Interpersonal Relationships, Identify and Address Underlying Issues, Change Negative Patterns, Improving Intimacy and Sexuality, Rebuilding Trust, Improve Communication, Promote Problem-Solving, Strengthen Family Support and Enhancing Relationship Satisfaction.
I develop tailored treatment plans to address each family or couple's specific needs and goals. These plans often involve short-term and long-term goals for addressing and resolving the issues at hand.
I use the principles of:
- Metacognitive Therapy (MCT)
- Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)
- Motivational Interviewing for Addiction
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- and CBT as my integrative approach to helping individuals solve their issues and the symptoms of various mental health conditions, primarily ADHD, PTSD, Trauma, depression, anxiety disorders and substance use disorder (SUD).
I accept different insurance.

Most common issues I support people with:
-
Communication Problems:
- Many couples and families struggle with effectively communicating their needs, feelings, and concerns. Miscommunication or lack of communication can lead to misunderstandings, unresolved conflicts, and emotional distance.
-
Conflict Resolution:
- Disagreements and conflicts are natural in any relationship, but when couples or family members lack healthy conflict resolution skills, these disputes can escalate and cause significant strain. I help my clients develop strategies to manage and resolve conflicts constructively.
-
Relationship and Intimacy Issues:
- Couples often seek counselling for issues related to intimacy, trust, and emotional connection. This can include addressing infidelity, sexual problems, or feelings of disconnect and dissatisfaction in the relationship.
-
Parenting Challenges and Family Dynamics:
- Families frequently encounter difficulties related to parenting styles, discipline, and managing the needs of children at different developmental stages. Blended families, in particular, may face challenges in establishing new family roles and boundaries.
-
Mental Health and Emotional Well-being:
- Issues such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and trauma can impact individual family members and the family unit as a whole. I work to support the mental health of all family members and address how these issues affect family dynamics and relationships.
