Online Relationship Counselling

Hello, my name is Valerie and I’m fully qualified and experienced Couples Counsellor. I have a ‘Specialist Diploma in Relationship Counselling’ and I’m accredited by the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I am passionate about helping couples build stronger, healthier and sustainable relationships. Therefore, I’m committed to providing highly effective couple therapy and dedicated to continually developing in my role.

Online Couples Therapy

Couples therapy online offers a range of benefits that can enhance the counselling experience. It provides convenience, eliminating the need for travel and allowing sessions from the comfort of your own home.

It offers flexibility in scheduling, making it easier to find time for therapy amidst busy lives.
Participating from a familiar environment can promote more open and honest discussions.

Online therapy ensures consistent access to counselling, even during challenging times, and offers an added level of privacy and anonymity for those who value it. Overall, online therapy can be a valuable and effective means for couples to work on their relationship.

Unmet emotional Needs

Together we will work to identify any unhelpful patterns of behaviour communication that might have built up over time. You will both be given the opportunity to talk about how you feel, what is not working for you and alongside listening to try to understand each other’s point of view.

We will work together to build a stronger and happier connection between you. Learning to express our feelings in a healthy way to connect with each other more deeply, finding better ways to communicate and feel happier together.

Please rest assured, that I will not judge, make choices for you or attribute blame to either one of you. It will be a safe, confidential space for meaningful discussions and exploration. Hopefully, this will enable you both to move forward more positively in whichever way you choose.

My approach to online couples’ therapy, is open-minded, practical and step-by-step. I will ask you both what you would like to achieve out of the therapy; whether you would like to make your relationship work better, or whether you would like help to separate more amicably.  Perhaps you are not sure of the outcome you would like right now, that’s okay, we will work together to help you find clarity. Whatever your goal, I will tailor the sessions for your unique situation.

If you feel comfortable and you'd like to explore how we can work together, please schedule a free initial meeting or email me. I'm eager to begin this journey with you!

How I can help you in couples therapy:

  • I will help bring you closer through making your emotional connections stronger, so you feel safe and secure in your relationship.
  • Together, we will discover how to communicate more effective. So, you will be able to express any issues clearly and kindly, leading to a better understanding of each other.
  • I will help you deal with disagreements in a healthier way, therefore arguments will be less intense and happen less often.
  • We will explore how any unhelpful patterns of behaviour/communication might be negatively impacting your relationship
  • I will provide a space where your feelings are acknowledged and validated so you both feel understood and valued.

Most common issues I support people with:

  1. Communication Problems:

    • Lack of effective communication is a widespread issue.  It may involve difficulties expressing feelings, active listening, or understanding each other's perspectives.
    • Communication breakdowns can lead to misunderstandings, resentment, and emotional distance.
  2. Intimacy and Sexual Issues:

    • Many couples struggle with maintaining intimacy and a satisfying sexual connection.
    • Issues may include differences in sexual desire, preferences, or concerns related to physical and emotional intimacy.
  3. Trust and Betrayal:

    • Trust is fundamental to a healthy relationship. Betrayals, such as infidelity or broken promises, can severely damage trust.
    • Rebuilding trust requires open communication, transparency, and a commitment to addressing the underlying issues.
  4. Conflict and Resentment:

    • Disagreements and conflicts are inevitable in any relationship. Unresolved conflicts can lead to resentment and emotional distance.
    • Learning healthy conflict resolution skills and addressing underlying issues can help couples navigate disagreements more constructively.
  5. Life Transitions and External Stressors:

    • Life changes, such as career shifts, parenthood, or relocation, can place strain on a relationship.
    • External stressors, like financial difficulties or health issues, can impact a couple's ability to support each other through challenging times.

We would highly recommend for LGBTQ+ couple

We feel fortunate to have find Valerie for couples counselling, she created a safe space where our experiences as a gay couple were understood and accepted, she helped us navigate challenges and strengthened our bond, we would highly recommend for LGBTQ+ couples seeking supportive and understanding counselling.
