Rachel | Certified Imago Relationship Therapist & Psychotherapist
Imago Relationship Therapy Chorlton-cum-Hardy - Manchester
My name is Rachel Morris. I am a psychotherapist and Certified Imago Relationship Therapist.
After more than 25 years as an individual therapist, I'm of the opinion that the one thing we all have in common is a longing for safe human connection and that our deep suffering always comes down to a sense of disconnection.
It's for this reason I undertook a training that I felt explained most of the suffering experienced by clients in my practice and in my own personal life - Imago Relationship Therapy offers a story of relationship that makes perfect sense to me and invites a way out of the power struggle and into the kind of relationship we haven't even dreamed of - because our imagination is limited to only being able to picture what we already know.
I believe Imago Relationship Therapy offers the simplest and most effective way to support and guide you back into loving connection with your partner (or family member), no matter how far apart you may have drifted or how angry, dissapointed or hopless you may be feeling.
Using a combination of mindfulness and guided communication techniques, you'll be able to get to the heart of the matter, share what is really going on for you, listen and be heard in a way that resonates on a deep and healing level.
This process will invite your curiosity, a necessary componant for understanding - because once you really get what is going on for each of you, you will be able to make decisions together about how your relationship could better serve you both.
Whether you've been together for 3 months or 30 years, are in crisis or simply want more harmony, fun, intimacy and sex, putting aside time to really focus on getting the love you want and learning how to give the love your partner wants, can set your relationship (back) on track.
I'm happy to work with any couple bringing any issue though I have a special interest in same sex couples and those from the LQBTQIA+ community. I have lived, loved, played and worked in queer and trans spaces most of my adult life and have an inside perspective on the subtle and not so subtle nuances of difference, which might be reassuring for some couples to know.
If you would like to know more or book an appointment, please send me a message.

Online therapy
Online couples therapy works very well whether you're in the same place or not. I use Zoom but could also work on Whatsapp video if necessary. It's a simple process, so if you're not of the tech generation, don't worry, I'll be happy to talk you through what do on the day.Qualifications and registrations

Specialisations and Expertises
LGBTQIA+: Finding a template for your own kind of loving relationship not set by a het norm society.Affairs/cheating: There is life after the affair, if both partners are willing to work through the issues and commit to developing a different kind of relationship together.
Communication breakdowns: Learn a new ways to listen and speak that ensures you are heard.
Intimacy blocks: Clear the path to connection by learning what gets in the way for your partner and agreeing to help them with that.
The Invisible Divorce: When you have lived parallel lives for so long that connecting feels impossible and even bizarre to consider. There is a way to build a new bridge that feels easier to cross, if you're both willing to work at it.
The sexless marriage: Not always, but often sex falls off the menu because there's no room for it amongst all the unresolved disappointment and resentment. Sex and closeness often return when safety is restored and we have let go of the old versions of ourselves and our partner that we might have held onto, and opened ourselves to possibility of meeting a different version of each other.
Most common issues I support people with:
- Communication
- Disconnection
