Tracy | Psychotherapist and Couples Counsellor

Couples Counselling Stoke Hammond

I work with couples who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship and/or simply want to learn how to communicate more effectively with one another.

Relationships are not always easy, and talking to friends and family can feel uncomfortable. I aim to provide a space that feels safe for both individuals to talk openly, which maintains privacy and prevents worry about feeling judged. My practice is inclusive and welcoming to people of all ethnicity, nationalities, and gender identities.

I appreciate that starting relationship counselling can bring up a great diversity of feelings like embarrassment, discomfort, anxiety or even excitement. Therefore, I am always respectful in how we all work together to ensure that you both feel as comfortable as possible.

We will explore together what has brought you both to therapy and what you want to gain from the sessions as a couple. I may sometimes ask to see you both individually, usually after the first assessment, but generally it will be the three of us in each session.

We will establish how we are going to work together. I don't agree on a fixed amount of sessions as I trust that you both will know when the time feels right to finish.

During our sessions I will encourage and support you both to share your vulnerabilities in a safe and productive way. Whilst I may challenge sometimes, this is simply to help facilitate a different way of thinking as a couple, especially since its usually these old patterns of thinking that have brought couples to therapy in the first place.

Online therapy

I always offer an initial meeting, free of charge, of 20 minutes over zoom. This gives you an idea of what a counselling session would be like over an online platform and see if this would work for you both.

The beauty of using an online platform is the freedom it gives us. All we need to do is ensure that you are both visable on the screen. Whether that be together in the same room via the same laptop, or if you log in seperately with different computers.

These meetings give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have, before starting counselling, without obligation.
